Ambushing Makers with weird questions at Makers Central

I Asked Makers Central Creators 5 Weird Questions

Makers Central is one of the biggest maker events in the UK — a weekend full of 3D printing, CNC machines, woodworking, electronics, cosplay, and people building things just because they can.

This year, instead of doing a normal event tour, I walked around with a microphone and asked creators, makers, and vendors five slightly ridiculous questions.

Questions like:

  • What’s the most underrated workshop tool?
  • What tool is completely overrated?
  • What gives you childlike wonder?
  • And somehow… what’s your favourite cheese?

The answers were a mix of useful, chaotic, awkward, and surprisingly wholesome.

What stood out most was how excited people still get about making things. Whether it was CAD design, RC cars, fabrication, or workshop tools nobody talks about enough, everyone had something they were genuinely passionate about.

That’s probably the best thing about Makers Central. It doesn’t matter whether you’re into woodworking, 3D printing, electronics, or metalworking — everyone’s there because they enjoy creating things and figuring stuff out.

And apparently some people have extremely questionable cheese opinions.
